Preparing for Your Appointment
- Do not pick/tweeze/wax/perform electrolysis one week before the procedure
- Do not tan two weeks prior to the service, or have a sunburned face
- Do not have any type of facial 2 weeks prior to the procedure
- Do not work out the day of the procedure
- Do not have botox 3 weeks prior to the procedure
- Do not take Fish Oil or Vitamin E one week prior to the procedure (they are natural blood thinners)
- Do not wax or tint your eyebrows 3 days prior to the procedure.
In order to avoid excessive bleeding and poor color deposit:
- Do not drink alcohol 24 – 48 hours before your tattoo
- Do not consume coffee before your procedure
- Do not take an Aspirin or Ibuprofen for pain relief (these also thin the blood)
After the procedure, gently blot the area with clean tissue to absorb excess lymph fluid. Do this every 5 minutes for the full day until the oozing has stopped. Removing this fluid prevents hardening of the lymphatic fluids. Please be sure to use clean tissue and your hands are washed to avoid infection.
Days 1-7: Wash
Wash morning and night to remove bacteria, build up of product and oils, and dead skin. (Don’t worry, THIS DOES NOT REMOVE THE PIGMENT!)
Gently wash your eyebrows each morning and night with water and an antibacterial soap like Dial Soap, Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser, or Neutrogena. With a very light touch, use your fingertips to gently cleanse the eyebrows. Lightly rub the area in a smooth motion for 10 seconds and rinse with water ensuring that all soap is rinsed away. To dry, gently pat with a clean tissue. DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or exfoliants.
Days 1-7 Moisturize
Here are some extra tips to help with a smooth and easy recovery:
- Use a fresh pillowcase while you sleep.
- Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring or loss of color.
- No facials, botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.
- Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for one week.
- Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks after the procedure. Wear a hat when outdoors.
- Avoid long, hot showers for the first 10 days.
- Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days.
- Avoid face-down swimming, lakes, and hot tubs for the first 10 days,
- Avoid topical makeup and sunscreen on the area.
- DO NOT rub, pick, or scratch the treated area.
- Remember, with the proper prep and aftercare routine, you will have much better results with your microblading procedure.
Important note about showering:
Limit your showers to 5 minutes so that you do not create too much steam. Keep your face/procedure area out of the water while you wash your body, then, at the end of your shower, wash your hair. Your face should only be getting wet only at the end of the shower. Avoid excessive rinsing and hot water on the treated area.
Lashes
To properly prep for your lash appointment, please be sure to read the following instructions.
Please do not wear mascara, eyeliner, moisturizer, or contacts to your lash appointment. You should arrive to your appointment with clean eyes free of makeup.
Do not use an oil based makeup remover to clean your eyelashes prior to the appointment. Oil is a contraindication for the eyelash extension set so we want to avoid oil based products.
Avoid using water-proof mascara for 72 hours prior to your lash appointment.
If you wear contacts, please be prepared to remove them during your appointment. You may put them back in once your lash appointment has been completed. If needed, please bring your travel kit to remove the contacts at the salon or simply wear your glasses to the lash appointment. This is for your eye safety. The appointment can be lengthy and we are trying to avoid any discomfort that may occur from wearing your contacts while keeping your eyes closed for a long period of time.
We also recommend showering and/or washing your hair the evening before or the morning of your lash appointment as you’re not able to saturate your lash line with water for up to 12 hours after your lash appointment.
Do not drink caffeine prior to your lash appointment as it makes your eyelids jittery and prohibits you from relaxing during your appointment.
Plan to enjoy a relaxing lash appointment. Have a wonderful evening.
Taking care of your lashes:
During the initial 24 hours after your appointment:
Do not get your lashes wet for 6 hours after the eyelash extensions are applied. It will affect the efficacy of the adhesive. Do not use cleanser on your lash line for 24 hours. Be sure to wait 5-10 minutes for extensions to fully dry before brushing through them as the hair follicle can be very delicate when wet.
Avoid taking steamy showers, facials, saunas, and swimming pools.
Avoid getting moisture around the eye area when washing face, showering, etc.
Do not use the spa, sauna, Bikram Yoga, or tanning bed for 48 hours after your appointment. The bond needs this time to cure fully with no added interference. You may spray tan after your appointment.
Avoid chemical peels, waxing, or laser treatments around the eyes.
Tips: When it comes to cleansers and moisturizers, use what is best for their skin. Just be very careful around the eye area. If using eye moisturizer, use it an hour before sleeping so that lashes are not lying on it.
The best product to use to take off makeup while you have eyelash extensions is the Neutrogena wipes. They are oil-free and gentle on the eyes and lashes. You can also use baby shampoo as a cleanser; it is also oil-free and gentle on the eyes. After using cleansers, or when your lashes are wet from the shower, always pat them dry—avoid rubbing them with your towel.
